We closed out the year's peer feedback cycle today, which is always a good excuse to slow down and actually think about how your teammates show up day to day. I also got pinged by Rustam about a Raygun error traced back to the Cash Movement Report, so that is now on the radar.
Peer Feedback - Dania
What is Dania doing well?
Dania gives code reviews that are both fast and substantive, which is a rarer combination than it should be. When I was iterating on the graphter CreateSale mutation back in July, she caught real issues across multiple rounds, pushed me to verify edge case behavior manually before dropping a test, and still called it "totally fine" once I had reasoned through it. That balance of rigor and pragmatism is the hallmark of a reviewer you actually want on your PR. The November Cash Movement Report work drove the point home further: she spotted the phantom zero-value rows rendering before real data appeared while simultaneously debugging a separate webregister issue, and still got back to my BigQuery optimization PR the same afternoon with a non-blocking comment. Staying engaged across multiple threads without letting anything slip is a skill, and she has it.
What should Dania do more or less of?
I would like to see Dania lean in more on cross-team coordination when she has context that I do not. When I needed to pick up Lucas's unstarted swiper ticket in January to unblock my own typey work, she had a clearer picture of the dependency and the people involved, but pointed me toward messaging him directly. That kind of warm handoff costs almost nothing and spares the newer person an awkward cold message to someone they barely know. The vacation handoff in late March had a similar friction point: I got the summary the day before she left, which left very little runway to ask questions about the remaining frontend scope on Sales History. A short written rundown of open items and decisions a few days ahead of time would make it much easier to step in with confidence rather than scrambling to reconstruct context on the fly.
